🧩 Combination Breakdown
🧮 How to Use the Betting Calculator
Start by selecting the type of wager you want to calculate. The calculator automatically adjusts the number of required selections according to the chosen betting structure.
Select a Single, Double, Treble, accumulator or one of the supported combination and full-cover bets.
Choose decimal, fractional or American odds and enter every selection using the selected format.
For system bets, the unit stake applies to each individual betting line rather than to the complete wager.
Add the sportsbook price for every selection required by your chosen bet type.
Enable Each-Way, choose the applicable place fraction and specify whether each selection won, placed or lost.
Check total stake, win return, place return where applicable, total return and estimated profit or loss.
The Calculation History section stores results during the current page session. Results can be exported as PDF, Excel, CSV or TXT files, while multi-line wagers can also display a combination breakdown.
A C$5 unit stake on a wager containing 26 lines creates a C$130 total stake, not a C$5 wager. If the same structure is calculated each-way, the total stake would normally double again because separate win and place stakes are created.
💰 Betting Return vs Betting Profit
A betting return and betting profit are different figures. The return normally includes the original stake, while profit is what remains after the total amount staked has been deducted.
C$20
2.50
C$50
C$30
With a C$20 stake at decimal odds of 2.50, the estimated total return is C$50. Because the original C$20 stake forms part of that return, the potential profit is C$30.
Potential return = stake × decimal odds. Potential profit is calculated by subtracting the original stake from that return.
🎯 Bet Types Supported by the Calculator
The calculator supports straightforward wagers and more complex multi-line betting systems. Understanding the number of individual lines is particularly important because it determines how the unit stake becomes the total amount risked.
One selection forms one betting line and the wager depends on the settlement of that selection.
Two selections are combined into one line and both generally need to win for the double to return.
Three selections are combined into one betting line, with their decimal-equivalent prices multiplied together.
The calculator supports accumulators containing four to twelve selections in a single combined line.
Trixie, Yankee, Canadian, Heinz, Super Heinz and Goliath bets combine doubles and higher-order accumulators.
Patent, Lucky 15, Lucky 31 and Lucky 63 include singles as well as combination lines.
The supported Round Robin structure uses three selections to create three separate doubles.
A 26-line system using six selections and a combination of Patents, a Yankee and a six-fold accumulator.
Adds separate win and place components and applies the selected place fraction to qualifying selections.
🧩 Understanding System Bets and Betting Lines
A system bet consists of multiple individual wagers generated from the same group of selections. This is why the unit stake and total stake shown by the calculator can be very different.
- Trixie: 4 lines from 3 selections – 3 doubles and 1 treble.
- Patent: 7 lines from 3 selections – 3 singles, 3 doubles and 1 treble.
- Yankee: 11 lines from 4 selections.
- Lucky 15: 15 lines from 4 selections, including singles.
- Canadian: 26 lines from 5 selections.
- Lucky 31: 31 lines from 5 selections, including singles.
- Heinz: 57 lines from 6 selections.
- Lucky 63: 63 lines from 6 selections, including singles.
- Super Heinz: 120 lines from 7 selections.
- Goliath: 247 lines from 8 selections.
For example, a C$2 unit stake on a Yankee produces a C$22 total stake because the bet contains 11 separately staked lines. An each-way Yankee using the same unit stake would normally require C$44 because both win and place components are created for every line.
This distinction becomes increasingly important with larger system bets. A small unit stake can produce substantial total exposure when it is multiplied across dozens or hundreds of betting lines.
🏇 How Each-Way Calculations Work
An each-way wager normally consists of two components: a win bet and a place bet. The overall stake is therefore generally twice the equivalent win-only stake.
The place portion is settled using a fraction of the original win odds. The calculator supports place fractions of 1/5, 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2.
The place decimal price is calculated as 1 + (5.00 – 1) × 1/4 = 2.00. The calculator performs this conversion automatically for each qualifying selection.
Actual each-way terms depend on the sport, event, market and operator. The number of places paid can also determine whether a selection qualifies for a place return, so calculator inputs should always be compared with the sportsbook’s current settlement terms.
📊 Decimal, American and Fractional Odds
The betting calculator accepts three common sportsbook odds formats. Choose the correct format before entering selections because identical-looking numbers can represent very different prices depending on the notation being used.
Show the total potential return for each unit staked. Decimal odds of 2.50 represent a total return of 2.50 units for every unit wagered if the selection wins.
Positive prices describe potential profit relative to 100 units, while negative prices describe the stake generally required to generate 100 units of profit.
Express potential profit in relation to stake. Odds of 3/2 represent three units of potential profit for every two units wagered.
Use the WildRosePlay Odds Converter to translate decimal, fractional and American prices and analyse implied probability and bookmaker margin.
📈 Why Use a Sports Betting Calculator?
A sports betting calculator makes the financial structure of a wager easier to inspect before money is committed. This is particularly useful when multiple selections or separately staked betting lines are involved.
Calculate potential returns without manually multiplying every sportsbook price or betting combination.
See how changing the unit stake affects both the total amount risked and the potential payout.
See how many individual lines make up Trixies, Yankees, Lucky bets and other supported combinations.
Focus on the complete amount being risked rather than looking only at the potentially attractive return.
The calculator can make betting mathematics easier to understand, but a larger potential payout does not mean that a wager has a greater probability of winning.
⚠️ Why the Final Sportsbook Payout May Differ
The calculator produces an estimate from the information entered by the user. The sportsbook’s accepted bet slip, market rules and final settlement remain authoritative.
- Odds changes: the final accepted sportsbook price may differ from a price viewed earlier.
- Void selections: an operator may recalculate part of a wager according to its settlement rules.
- Dead heats: returns can be reduced where participants share a qualifying finishing position.
- Each-way terms: place fractions and the number of qualifying places vary between events and operators.
- Maximum payouts: operator limits can apply to particular sports, markets or betting structures.
- Rounding: small differences can occur because of operator calculation and rounding methods.
- Incorrect inputs: entering the wrong price or selecting the wrong odds format will produce an incorrect estimate.
Always review the completed bet slip and the operator’s current market and settlement rules before confirming a wager.
🛡️ Use the Betting Calculator Responsibly
A calculator can display a large potential payout from an accumulator or system bet, but the displayed amount is not an indication that the wager is likely to succeed. Every additional selection creates another result capable of affecting the final return.
Use the calculator to understand stake and payout mathematics rather than to justify increasing your gambling budget. Never increase a stake simply because a potential return appears capable of recovering earlier losses.
The amount you can afford to risk should be decided independently of a calculated potential payout. Our Bankroll Management guide explains betting budgets, staking and financial limits in more detail.
A Potential Payout Is Not Money Already Won
Only wager an amount that can be lost without affecting essential expenses. System and each-way bets can create a much larger total stake than the initial unit amount suggests.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What does the betting calculator calculate?
It estimates total stake, win return, place return where applicable, total return and profit or loss using the stake, odds and betting structure entered by the user.
What is the difference between betting return and profit?
The return normally includes the original stake. Profit is the amount remaining after the complete stake has been deducted from that return.
Can the calculator predict whether a bet will win?
No. It performs mathematical calculations only and cannot predict sporting results, identify winning selections or guarantee a successful wager.
Can I calculate accumulator bets?
Yes. The calculator supports accumulators containing between four and twelve selections and combines the entered prices to estimate the potential return.
Does the calculator support each-way bets?
Yes. Each-Way mode calculates separate win and place components using the selected place fraction and the result assigned to each selection.
Which system bets are supported?
The calculator supports Trixie, Yankee, Canadian, Heinz, Super Heinz, Goliath, Patent, Lucky 15, Lucky 31, Lucky 63, Round Robin and Alphabet bets.
Why is the total stake higher than my unit stake?
Combination and system bets contain multiple separately staked lines. Total stake is calculated by multiplying the unit stake by the number of lines, and an each-way wager generally doubles that amount.
Which odds formats can I enter?
The betting calculator accepts decimal, fractional and American odds. All selections should be entered using the odds format selected in the calculator.
Why might the sportsbook payout differ from the calculator?
Differences can result from odds changes, void selections, dead-heat rules, each-way terms, maximum payout limits, rounding or incorrect information entered into the calculator.
